When state run media disappears information like that, it is called "black holing", the term is a verb made from the noun "black hole" in reference to the astronomical phenomenon whose gravitational pull is so powerful that even light cannot escape.

In the novel 1984, the government actively rewrote history and destroyed evidence that would contradict the new version of history. Papers to be destroyed were put into a "memory hole" which led to an incinerator.

So now it's an idiom. To destroy inconvenient evidence is to "put it in the memory hole" or simply "to memory-hole it".
